Environmental protection

  • Tank farm / tank room sealing / storage facilities
  • Tunnel waterproofing, bitumen-resistant
  • Petrol station sealing (only Diesel and fuel oil)
  • Retaining basins for chemicals, rain water etc.
  • Land fill sites and storage facilities

One of mankind's most prominent tasks is the protection of our environment. The soil, water and nature as a whole have to be protected against contamination by liquid or solid waste. Waste disposal sites require safe sealing (bottom and top) to prevent rainwater from penetrating the area and creating a pollution hazard for groundwater. The cover serves as a protection against methane gas accumulating in the disposal area.

Waste disposal sites can be covered with a PVC sealing membrane as a means of surface sealing. However, this sealing membrane is also suited for all types of retaining basins for chemical liquids, as a protective means underneath oil tanks or in petrol station areas.

Installation

The sealing membrane installation is determined by the project type. Due to their good forming properties and good resistance against chemicals it is ideally suited for the task of covering waste disposal sites. It easily adapts to any site geometry, even to debris and is characterised by its good weldability.

When the disposal site is filled and compacted, it is covered with a layer of soil. A drainage system is installed and covered with geotextile membranes. The geotextile membrane is covered with a vegetation layer which in turn is covered with a geotextile membrane and a sealing membrane. Then the overall system is covered with sand, geotextile membrane and e.g. soil.

For retaining basins of all types of chemical liquids, oil etc. and as a protection underneath oil tanks or seeping pit underneath petrol stations or similar facilities the ground has to be cleared of sharp-edged gravel and rocks. Then the ground is covered with a protection layer such as geotextiles or sand. This is followed by installation of the sealing membrane and joining of the individual membrane webs by hot air welding or hot wedge welding. In principle, the webs should overlap each other by 5 - 8 cm. The system rolled out loosely. The sealing membrane is attached to PVC-coated sheet metal profiles, which are used as intermediate fastening means on walls exceeding 4 m in height.

The top area that is in contact with water should be covered with a concrete surface.
